Compounding means a pharmacy makes a medicine for a patient’s particular need.
The FDA said pharmacies could not use cagrilintide to make such a medicine.
That means an offer to prescribe or compound cagrilintide today is not normal treatment. The publicly listed way to seek cagrilintide itself is through a registered research study on ClinicalTrials.gov.
Three names, three different meanings
- Cagrilintide is a long-lasting lab-made cousin of amylin, a hormone linked with fullness. It is still being tested.
- CagriSema is the experimental combination of cagrilintide and semaglutide.
- Semaglutide is already the ingredient in approved medicines called Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus.
